The journey of a hundred and fifty years of the Apostolic Carmel began with a single step; because of the courage of a woman who in response to God’s call, dared to take that first step. Mother Veronica, with the assistance of Bishop Marie Ephrem, the Vicar Apostolic of Mangaluru, founded a new Congregation, the Third Order Regular, The Apostolic Carmel at Bayonne, France on July 16th, 1868. Today as we stand on the threshold of a fresh beginning, we remember with reverence and gratitude, this great woman, Mother Veronica. We also recall with deep appreciation, the dedicated lives and services of our pioneers and those who followed in their footsteps. Starting this July the Apostolic Carmel Congregation celebrates 150 years of its existence with many new social initiatives.
