Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas are affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi. The track record of the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti since its inception in 1986 has set impressive milestones in the field of education in rural India. The Vidyalayas are residential co-educational and fully financed by the Govt. of India and function through an autonomous organization called the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti. Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Khordha was started in Chuda during the year 2003-04. From the academic session 2009-10, the institution has been functioning at the permanent site at Gurujanga, Khurda.
