Bravo Delhi Government for completing one year of happiness curriculum in its schools.
“Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. If you love what you are doing, you will be successful.”– Albert Schweitzer
What a beautiful quote to start a discussion on the importance of happiness. Recently during the concluding ceremony of ‘Happiness Utsav’, organized by Delhi government, CJI(Chief justice of India) Ranjan Gogoi applauded the initiative of happiness classes by Delhi government. He further said that, happiness classes must be a part of judicial academics as well, as he rightly believes if we are negative and not happy, we won’t be able to contribute towards the growth of our country. He said it would also bring down the rising numbers of litigation, since there will be no such cases if everyone is happy. Therefore, happiness curriculum is an exquisite initiative by Delhi government, it must be applauded, but it requires a pan India approach. Why to limit such an initiative to one city?
To make students future-ready, teaching happiness is a vital part, therefore, it must be part of every school’s curriculum. Stress and anxiety are becoming common problems even among children. The major visible reasons are academic pressure, sky high competition level, and rising expectations of parents, teachers and society. Dealing with all this, children forget to be happy. Childhood used to be a carefree era for us all, but for today’s children, work imposed on children is no less than a working professional. Just imagine, how much they go through. Starting from the morning, the first task is to attend the school, followed by multiple tuition classes, they get almost no time to play and wander around. The playgrounds for children are being taken over by concrete jungles. Therefore, happiness classes are need of an hour, to maintain the required balance and to bring back those days of glory. This initiative must be taken seriously.
Happy children lead to a happy working-class population of the future, that would make up for a happy and prosperous society. So, let’s make sure this initiative reaches everyone. Let’s make a better future, for that we must start making the changes today.
