DELHI PUBLIC SCHOOL JHAKRI was started as the first of the DPS Schools, under the aegis of DPS SOCIETY New Delhi, in the state of Himachal Pradesh. The foundations were laid on the 14 July 1994, amidst the serenity of Himalayan mountains, 150 kms from the Capital city of Shimla, in the interiors of the Himachal ranges of the Himalayan Mountains on NH-22, in the beautifully developed township of the then NATHPA JHAKRI POWER CORPORATION now known as SATLUJ JAL VIDYUT NIGAM LIMITED. The school was started for catering to the better educational needs of the wards of the employees working on the prestigious 1500 MW Nathpa Jhakri Hydel Power Project at Jhakri.
