Description
Ponnani was called as “Small Makkah” as it was the emerging centre of Islamic culture and scientific pulses. Most of the students from Asian countries moved to Ponnani with the aim of acquiring knowledge.Four decades ago, during the period education was refused for Muslim girls and society was dipped in superstition and ignorance. Some eminent personalities aimed at the renovation of the society and they formed Islamic Service Society. This institution exists in Ponnani and leaves behind 38 years for the contribution of cultural and educational development.
