Description
In accordance with the National Policy of Education (1986) Government of India, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) were established under the visionary guidance of our former Prime Minister Sh.Rajiv Gandhi. Presently the JNVs are spread in 29 States and 7 Union Territories except Tamil Nadu. They are co-educational residential schools, affiliated to CBSE, imparting quality modern education to the talented children predominantly from rural areas, fully financed and administered by Government of India through an autonomous organization, Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti. Admissions in JNVs are made through the JAWAHAR NAVODAYA SELECTION TEST (JNVST) at Class VI. The medium of instruction in JNVs is the mother-tongue or regional language combined with English up to Class VIII.
