The Government of India has launched a Scheme to establish on an average one Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) in each district in the country, with the following objectives. To provide good quality modern education including a strong component of culture, values, environment awareness and physical education to talented children in rural areas without regard to their family's socio-economic condition.
