Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Chikmagalur was started on 23rd October 1986 by the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, an autonomous body which comes under the Ministry of Human recourse & Development, New Delhi. at Coffee Research station, Koppa Taluk, Chikmagalur District. Navodaya Vidyalaya is the dream child of late Rajeev Gandhi, the Ex Prime Minister of India. The school is one of the senior most Navodaya Schools in India. As classes grew, the want of space and infrastructure made necessity to shift the campus to new location.
