Description
Chitradurga, one of the most severe drought-prone districts in Karnataka, is predominantly rain-fed and has no major irrigation project. In 2006, the Ministry of Panchayat Raj named Chitradurga one of the country’s 250 most backward districts . JET Rural Education Centre, a CBSE School, was founded in 2006 under the aegis of Jagruthi Education Trust, to provide affordable, quality education to the rural children in Chitradurga. Located at Gollahalli, Hiriyur Taluk, the school currently has around 750 students hailing from 60 villages in the neighbourhood. At JETREC, education is provided from 1st to 10th standard with top-notch amenities, which include a full-fledged composite science lab, a computer lab, a well-stocked library and information centre, bus transport, vast playground, etc.
