Description

The origin of Mayo College, one of the oldest public Schools in the country, dates back to 1869. Mayo was designed to make British gentlemen out of Indian princes. Years after its first student, Maharaja Mangal Singh of Alwar, rode into the campus on an elephant, Mayo still retains the ‘quality of education’ it has always been admired for.Founded by Richard Southwell Bourke, the Earl of Mayo, who was the Viceroy of India from 1868 to 1872, the School strives for excellence in academic subjects and in all other spheres of life.
