Description
Santa Cruz school treasures more than 160 years of historical reminiscence. It is considered as the first school in Kerala ,started by the Diocese of Cochin in1858 with modern facilities of the time. The school was then named St.Joseph’s school and was situated in the eastern side of Nehru Park of the old Santa Cruz Church. This towering beam of light was renovated in Gothic style and upgraded in 1888 to High School. The school had special facilities with imported lab equipments from Europe installed in the laboratories and the library was enriched with precious books. As a tribute to God, a chapel was set up inside the school building, an Altar with splendid artistic work adorned the chapel.
