Description
Dated back to 1830, a few families of Aruppukottai Nadars started a small organization in the name of ‘Aruppukottai Nadar Magamai’-a communal revenue stream- for the welfare and the upliftment of their community with a fore vision. Initially, they collected a small amount from their small earnings as ‘Deepa Kasu’ (தீபக்காசு) to light the lamps in the temples and to elevate their living status. As years passed on and the collection swelled up, they constructed a Siva temple and an Amman temple of their own for themselves. Later, due to the forethought and realization that education alone will bring a significant change and development in their community, they established an educational institution borne the name Saiva Bhanu Kshatriya (SBK) Elementary School in about 135 years ago.
