
Description
The founder of the modern CMS School for girls which later came to be known as Mallinson Girls' School, was Miss Violet B. Fitze. It was in October 1912, when Miss Violet B. Fitze laid the foundation of the CMS Girls' School in a mud house in FatehKadal. In the beginning, Miss Fitze had to face opposition from various quarters, but her calm, confidence and perseverance bore fruit, and by 1918, the school was raised to the middle standard and it received a grant of Rs. 700/- from the Education Department of the State. Miss Violet B. Fitze died in 1929. Violet Fitze's selfless and beautiful life had already begun to take roots in her girls and it was this fragrance of selflessness and humility that attracted the heart of another heroic soul who made girls' education acceptable in Srinagar
